A deadly weapon gets into the hands of a troubled teen and seventeen people die with others wounded and a town, a county, a state, and a nation reel from the shock of it all.
Our world got loud. We didn’t hear the whispers so life had to shout:
Take care of the children.
Heed the warning signs.
And if you are not part of the solution you might be part of the problem.
Take this to a very personal level. Where is your world loud? What keeps getting your attention? Is there a place where something in your life keeps repeating and is a cause of frustration? These are warning signs. You are being shouted at. Get still. Listen to what is being whispered.
And sometimes it’s not oh-so-serious. Sometimes we just have to get all the facts. Like the reason why my rocking chairs on the porch were rocking so much just now was not that someone was playing a joke on me but because a squirrel decided it would be fun to climb around on them. I only saw him when I stood up to look out the window. My mind jumped to conclusions, but I had to get all the facts.
And sometimes it is actually oh-so-serious. Like Parkland, Florida. Like when I had cancer. And that’s ok. Listen and learn from the lessons. It’s part of the journey.
And when it gets difficult, remember this:
The night is darkest before the dawn,
and it’s out of chaos a star is born.
To all the stars in my life
and in your life.
Shine on.
