A Reminder About the Green Grass~~~
Stuff happens. Communication breaks down. Misunderstandings arise. We feel hurt, unseen, unheard, unappreciated, disrespected, unloved even.
I liken this to a sports game. Just because there is a foul does not mean we give up on the game. Sometimes we need to just move on and play through.Sometimes we need a timeout to create some space. Sometimes we need a huddle to regroup. Sometimes we need a coaching session to bring in professional guidance.
Look at all the good. Affirm what you appreciate regularly as what you feed grows. Then take steps to attend to what is challenging at the moment. Did we expect everything to remain static with no growth? I think not. No challenge, no change, right?
And we don’t climb a staircase to reach a destination in one giant step. Some transformations take more steps, and more time. Be patient with yourself and with others. Anything worth it will be worth it.
Greener Grass
The grass is not necessarily greener on the other side.
The grass is greener where you water it.
So if there are places that need patching, simply nurture them and be amazed at what time and attention may be able to achieve.
The Greatest Love of All
We all bring ourselves to our relationships. Others don’t actually give us love. Their presence mirrors and magnifies the love that we are which may feel like they give us something but indeed we share love like lightbulbs in a series share electricity. We do light each other up though by our close proximity but we are each our own light, our own love.
Certainly love has many faces as in appreciating the other and giving time and helping out and on it goes; yet remember the greatest love of all starts with loving ourselves which I contend is also the greenest grass of all.
Written by Linda Creed, the lyrics to the song sung by Whitney Houston, with music composed by Michael Masser, are so right.
I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children’s laughter remind us how we used to be
… Everybody searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
I never found anyone who fulfill my needs
A lonely place to be
And so I learned to depend on me
… I decided long ago
Never to walk in anyone’s shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I’ll live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can’t take away my dignity
… Because the greatest love of all
Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
Inside of me.
… The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
Is the greatest love of all
… And if, by chance, that special place
That you’ve been dreaming of
Leads you to a lonely place
Find your strength in love
~~~~~~~
To the child in us all with much love in tending the green grass.
